With its attractive rural location, easy access to Indianapolis, and the presence of DePauw University and a new Ivy Tech Community College campus, Putnam County has enjoyed growth over the last several years. Major industries in the county include building products and auto parts manufacturing, consumer products distribution, ethanol production and lawn mower and lift truck production. The county seat of Greencastle was the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns’ “Green Community of the Year” in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
