When the Greencastle Redevelopment Commission gave approval for an economic revitalization area for FB Distor/Ascena Retail Group Inc. last week, they were assured it was "good news," they just did not know what that good news was.  The picture became a bit clearer at Tuesday's Greencastle City Council meeting. Before the council gave approval to the same resolution, they learned a bit more about Ascena's plans for the facility at 1901 E. State Road 240.

Earlier this year it was Heartland -- the Ota City, Japan-based company that has called Greencastle home for a quarter-century now -- donating a generous and quite unexpected $100,000 to the City of Greencastle in celebration of its 25 years of operations here. (City officials are still debating how best to use that money, by the way).

INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 2, 2012) - At the midway point in the year, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation announced that it has worked with 145 companies that have made decisions to expand or establish new business operations in Indiana for a total of nearly 13,300 projected new jobs. At year-end last year, the IEDC reported a total of 219 decisions by companies to locate a projected 19,080 new jobs in the state.

TERRE HAUTE — An auto parts maker is planning a $22 million expansion of a western Indiana factory. Officials of ThyssenKrupp Presta announced today that the company expected to add three new assembly lines at its Terre Haute factory in the Vigo County Industrial Park and potentially add 120 workers in the coming year. The company says construction is scheduled to start this month and be completed by October.

GREENCASTLE, Ind. (March 7, 2012) - Governor Mitch Daniels joined executives from Charming Shoppes, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHRS), a retail apparel chain specializing in women's plus-size apparel, to announce the company's plans to invest in its distribution and logistics operations here, creating up to 135 new jobs by 2014.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (March 8, 2012) - Bemis Company, Inc. (NYSE:BMS), a global supplier of flexible packaging and pressure sensitive materials, announced plans today to expand its operations here, creating up to 40 new jobs by 2013.

On Feb. 1, Gov. Mitch Daniels signed HB1001 into law making Indiana the 23rd Right-to-Work state. Indiana is the first Great Lakes state and the first state in a decade to enact a right-to-work law.

TERRE HAUTE — California-based NantWorks announced Tuesday it will locate a new pharmaceutical manufacturing plant on former Pfizer Inc. property south of Terre Haute, creating up to 234 new jobs by 2016.

INDIANAPOLIS  - For the fourth time in as many years, Indiana's business climate scored a top ten finish nationally in Site Selection magazine's 2011 business climate rankings. Feedback from a survey of national real estate executives and a review of Indiana's economic development record earned the state recognition as the sixth best place for business in the U.S., up two spots from eighth in 2010.
