Since taking office, Congressman Larry Bucshon has made it a point to visit businesses within Indiana's 8th District. On Wednesday, he visited three Clay County businesses. One of which provided him with wonderful news.

During a visit to Great Dane Trailers, Bucshon was informed the company had plans to expand in the near future.

"I think it's important to know what's happening in the district," Bucshon said. "For the last year, we've been all over (the district). What this is about is getting people employed and getting people back to work."

"I made it a goal of mine to tour businesses in the district. And (Great Dane) still has some room for expansion."

Great Dane Trailers is Clay County's largest employer with approximately 1,200 associates. Plant Manager Gary Parker told The Brazil Times Wednesday plans have been made to expand by adding 200 more positions, possibly beginning in March.

Parker said the expansion is necessary due to an increase in business.

"We're in a commodity driven business," he said. "Our business is cyclical."

Parker said the expansion would give the company its largest employee total in four years.
